  11. Kenneth Grundlock says:

Senator Rusty Crowe”s presentation to Dr. Greer yesterday was a pleasure to watch. It was on a late summer day in 1981 when I first met Dr. Greer. For it was on that day that both he and I stepped onto the beautiful campus of Milligan College as freshmen. It is so neat to see someone come completely full circle, from a freshman wearing that orange and black little cap, to now recieving the torch of the Presidency of the college to carry on. I would like to congratulate Dr. Greer on his charge, and wish God”s blessings on him, as he carries our Alma Matter on to the future!

  12. Tony Twist says:

    Looking forward to working together.

    Yours in Him,

    Tony and Suzanne Twist

  13. Whitney Ward says:

    Dr. and Mrs. Greer,

It”s so exciting for Milligan to be receiving a new president in my freshman year! This happened to me in high school, too! We got a new principal my freshman year of high school, and he called us “his class” because we had started at that high school at the same time. I hope this year”s freshman class can be “your class” and I hope you have an awesome presidency! Congratulations and best of luck!

    God bless,
    Whitney Ward

  14. Jane Collins says:

  15. Bill and Edwina,
We are so grateful for your leadership at Milligan over the years. As you turn your attention to a more strategic leadership, may God bless you, your family and the college as you prepare to move her forward to an exciting future. If either Paul or I can be of any encouragement along the way, please don”t hesitate to ask. We look forward to connecting soon at a conference. Many blessings!

  16. Ron Eversole says:

    Bill and Edwina,
Having known both of you as students during the time I was at Milligan, I am absolutely certain that you are the right ones to lead the college! I am sorry that I will not be there for the service and celebration, but am very pleased that one of my granddaughters will be singing with the choir. (By the way, she and her sister represent the fourth generation of Eversoles who have served or studied at Milligan.) I pray God will grant you wisdom as you lead and shower you with His richest blessings as you serve.

  17. John P. Hasty, class of 1948 says:

Congratulations Dr. Greer on the beginning of what I pray will be a long and fruitful tenure as President of Milligan College. Smith , that led me to an acceptance of Jesus Christ as my Savior.

    Bill and Edwina,
What an exciting time this is for both of you and for Milligan. I (Corri) am so pleased to be able to say “I knew you when you were a mere Humanities tutor!” I look back fondly to those work study days and the opportunity it provided for me to get to know you, Bill. Of course I also feel that I got to know you too, Edwina, as we usually had lots of time to fill with conversation as we waited for students to tutor! As we have observed your service through the ensuing years we are thrilled you have been chosen to serve our alma mater in this way.

Scott and I are not able to be there to share in the inaugural festivities due to commitments with our high school student, but we want you to know that our thoughts and prayers will be with you as you assume leadership of Milligan College. We look forward to how God will use you to advance His Kingdom as you influence the next generation of Christian leaders.

Milligan holds so many fond memories for those of us who graduated from there. When I was there many of the buildings were in disrepair. Now it is physically, as well as fiscally and spiritually, a great institution. Cathy Muse was one of my best friends at Milligan, I know you know her Mountain City family well.

    Dear Bill and Edwina,

Congratulations! Wow, I am so excited for the two of you, and for the future of Milligan! I am one of those few, who can say that I personally knew you from “back in the day”, when the three of us were students at Milligan. We sure have some great memories from our Milligan days! I could tell some funny tales on the two of you, but I will restrain since this is suppose to be “dignified”. I want you to know how happy I am for you both, and I honestly can not think of two better people to be in the role of President and First Lady of Milligan College.

Edwina, having known you even longer than Bill, from childhood to being roomates at Milligan, to being good friends today, I know you and Bill will be great partners as you embark on this new role. Your Mom & Dad would be so proud of you both and are smiling down upon you.

What a “Dynamic Duo”! The combination of talents that you both bring to the table are impressive. Not only great business skills, resourcefulness, personality and love for the students of Milligan, but most importantly your Christian walk with the Lord. May God bless you both in this next chapter.

  49. President and Mrs. Greer:
Contratulations on assuming this presidency of a very good educational institution which is also my alma mater. I graduated in 1956 with a major in Religion. Most of my career has been at Berea College (KY) for 46 years as teacher, Director of the Campus Christian Center, and other administrative duties. I have served under four presidents and helped select our 9th president who begins next July. I know how important the leadership transition at the presidential level is. Besides President Walker, the other president I knew best was President Leggett.
Your presidency means that the good contributions you have already made to Milligan will be continued and enhanced, for now you are the visionary, the leader. In the wilderness of our chaotic world today, you will be the Moses who allows God to provide the cloud by day and the fire by night.
My prayers will continue with you during this tenure.

    Randy Osborne

  67. carl e miller '59 says:

    Dear Greers,
This a great time for you and Milligan. Milligan represents one of the bright spots in my life because of its faculty, the courses they offered, and the collegiate atmosphere fostered. It was not a college which had no beliefs; yet, they did not parade themselves as better than other people because of their beliefs. The dedication to learning was always apparent and it was sincerity which made the point clear. Few colleges offer the depth of spiritual quality combined with academic excellence that Milligan does. Former presidents set high standards for the college and if one looks at the graduates produced, their goals were often realized. May you have success in continuing the traditions, the academic quality, and family togetherness Milligan has. I hope you have a superior presidency and a meaningful personal life. Carl Miller ”59

  80. Susan Potter says:

    Dr. Bill,
I was in the adult Business Administration graduating class of 2000. We were the ones that kept “demanding” that you teach additional classes for us – I think there were three by the time our cohort was finished!

I can”t think of a better selection for the President”s position – one of the most memorable things that you taught us was that economics was truly about the stewardship of the resources that God has given us – what a precious thought!

Congratulations on your inauguration – I am working at the University of South Florida Office of Clinical Research as a Senior Project Liaison – if I wasn”t so far I away I would definitely be there!

    Respectfully,
    Susan Potter

  81. Bill and Edwina,

Looking forward to officially seeing you installed as President and First Lady of the alma mater we love so completely. I know that you will continue the excellence initiated by your predecesor. 100. Candice Schlaegel says:

    Dear Bill and Edwina,
I congratulate you on your new presidency! I have looked forward to this day since the moment it was announced. I truly look forward to the work you do at Milligan and the relationships you develop. The role of president has many responsibilities but like Bill said to me in our Stampede interview, “the students are why we are here.” I honestly believe that both of you will do a loving job at knowing the students and staff here at Milligan, by building friendships with student and staff alike. Thank you for your efforts and support as parent, professor, administrator, fan, and friend. I can”t wait to get to know you both so much better in my last year at Milligan. I also can”t wait to shake Bill”s hand in May as I walk across Seeger”s stage, both spiritually formed and academically formed. Once again, thank you for your love, care, and guidance. I love you both.

    Sincerely,
    Candice Schlaegel, Class of 2012

Many prayers have been sent up to our LORD and I give thanks for HIS answer. Milligan is blessed to have you as our President. I am and remain to be an instrument of support to serve under your direction and leadership. I know there will be great things to come for Milligan and I feel so fortunate to be a part of this “new” beginning with you at the helm. May GOD bless you, Edwina and your family always.

  103. Saziye Ozhayta says:

Dear “Soon to be” President & Mrs. Greer,
I am totally and completely thrilled to be able to join you on such an amazing occasion and I am most certainly ecstatic about being able to get to know you both within my next four years of college here at Milligan. Becoming a new president may mean you have to fill up some “big shoes”, but I think you fit perfectly here at Milligan already! With the both of you just coming and getting to know us students and coming to our events and just being there as a supporter – you have no idea how much that means to all of us! I pray that ,as this next week is coming up rapidly, God will give you the strength, wisdom, guidance, patience, etc. to be able to be the best president (and wife) you can be here at Milligan College! God Bless and can”t wait to be able to witness such an awesome event!
    Saziye
